It is intended that the scheme will be available as widely as possible to self-financing postgraduate taught students. Therefore all postgraduate taught programmes will initially be included. By postgraduate taught programmes we mean a standalone Masters level programme (level 7, which includes PGCEs), in which taught modules are the majority part of the programme. Alumni enrolling on short / CPD courses are not eligible for the scholarship. Self-funded alumni embarking on a postgraduate research degree (e.g. PhD as well as professional doctorates including the DThM and DBA) or who began an eligible postgraduate taught degree before 2020-21 will not be eligible for this Scholarship but might still be eligible for a 10% discount under the regular ‘Alumni Tuition Fee Discount Scheme’. Undergraduate students progressing into the 4th year of an integrated Masters programme are not eligible for this Scholarship. https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7513&itemno=7513 https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7513&itemno=7513 Fri, 19 Jun 2020 08:06:58 +0100 Will any of my years of study be excluded from the scheme? The 25% Scholarship is available only for students commencing their programme in 2020-21. While most postgraduate taught programmes last one-year (full-time), students whose programme lasts two years will continue to receive the 25% Scholarship in their second year. https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7514&itemno=7514 https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7514&itemno=7514 Fri, 19 Jun 2020 08:05:23 +0100 Are all Durham University Business School Masters and MBA programmes included in this scheme? Yes, all Masters and MBA (with the exception of the EMBA) are included. Graduating Business School students are advised to consider the suitability of the School’s Masters courses which are aimed at non-Business School graduates before applying. https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7515&itemno=7515 https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7515&itemno=7515 Wed, 17 Jun 2020 15:07:55 +0100 I am receiving full financial support from an external source for tuition fees (e.g. Scholarship/UKRI) will I still be eligible for the Scholarship? Unfortunately, you will not be eligible for this Scholarship in these circumstances as you will not be a ‘self-funding’ student. Your funder will be responsible for your tuition fees. https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7512&itemno=7512 https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7512&itemno=7512 Mon, 15 Jun 2020 09:21:52 +0100 I have received or do receive a Scholarship or bursary for part of my tuition fees, can I still get this Scholarship? You must be self-funding (or majority self-funding) in order to receive this scholarship. If you receive a partial scholarship or bursary from another source, you will still be eligible for the Durham University Alumni 25% Fee Scholarship provided that your self-funded fee contribution is greater than the value of this Scholarship. For example: if your chosen course fee is £10,500 you must intend to make a personal contribution of at least £2,625 in order to receive the Scholarship, excluding any other third-party support of fee sponsorship. Any repayable loans used to make personal contributions towards fees would count as self-funding. https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7511&itemno=7511 https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7511&itemno=7511 Mon, 15 Jun 2020 09:21:22 +0100 I have already applied or been offered a place on a postgraduate course before I became aware of the Scholarship, can I still apply for it? If you send an email including your new (postgraduate) student ID number to studentbilling.query@durham.ac.uk they will consider your application. If eligible, your invoice will be amended to reflect the Scholarship. If you have already received a scholarship from the Business School for one of their Masters or MBA courses, please email business.pgrecruit@durham.ac.uk for any clarification required. https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7510&itemno=7510 https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7510&itemno=7510 Mon, 15 Jun 2020 09:17:32 +0100 How will I apply for this discount? You will be asked to indicate at the point of enrolment if you think are eligible for the Scholarship. On the ‘Financial Information’ pages of your application, you should input the value of your personal contribution minus this Scholarship (and any other awards) into the ‘Your own Contribution Towards Fee’. You should then enter the value of 25% of your course fee into the ‘Amount of tuition fee scholarship award’ field entering DUA25FS into the ‘Name of tuition fee scholarship award’ field above. Your invoice will be sent to you by email, which will then reflect your tuition fee after the Scholarship has been applied. https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7509&itemno=7509 https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7509&itemno=7509 Mon, 15 Jun 2020 09:16:12 +0100 Am I eligible for this Scholarship? You are eligible for the Durham University Alumni 25% Fee Scholarship as long as you hold a first degree or higher degree awarded by Durham University. Those holding CHE/DHE or postgraduate/CPD credits only will unfortunately not be eligible to receive the Scholarship. This Scholarship is available for applicants whose postgraduate taught course commencement date occurs between 1 Aug 2020 and 31 July 2021. Both full-time and part-time courses are covered. You must be self-funding (or majority self-funding) in order to receive this Scholarship. The value of your personal contribution to your fees must exceed the value of this proposed Scholarship. For example: if your chosen course fee is £10,500 you must intend to make a personal contribution of at least £2,625 in order to receive the Scholarship, excluding any other third-party support of fee sponsorship. Any repayable loans used to make personal contributions towards fees would count as self-funding. https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7508&itemno=7508 https://www.dur.ac.uk/study/pg/finance/alumni/?id=7508&itemno=7508 Mon, 15 Jun 2020 09:14:43 +0100
